UnetBoot (second try to get my pc with ati x1600 working with linux)

First i getted Unetboot (for starting via usb stick)

http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/

After that downloading the debian lenny image (since squeeze doesn’t support my old graphic card :()

http://hammurabi.acc.umu.se/cdimage/archive/5.0.8/i386/iso-cd/debian-508-i386-netinst.iso

(been searching for hours after that)

Yes to all. Its cuz i used it before. This didn’t worked debian constant asked for the cd.
So new try with ubuntu. I have installed ubuntu 9.04 with unetboot again. (yh old version but 9.10 schould work to.)

To support your old graphic card driver you open an terminal window and do :

apt-get install xserver-xorg-video-radeonhd

This stuff installs the opensource drivers of your video card. Not the best but it runs fine.

A happy thunderbug

Lovely linux, Debian<3

I have installed debian on my pc (since we had a spare hard disk from an old pc. I make an dual boot)

Atm its not much. I have the problem with my graphics card (ati x1600) not supporting linux very well (or even not). If someone can help me out e-mail me at thunder@justforfun-gaming.com.

Anyway , here i will have direct acces to the server , like an folder /hard disk showing up as server.

Didn’t had much time to rly code something. Just wanted to experiment with linux. And also i borrowed the tv stuff of the old pc 😛 (so i can watch tv on my pc though the closest connection we have here is sattelite, got to figure out if i can use my pc as decoder.)

In future you can mayby expect some tutorials about th graphic card if i find some sollution.
